No idea as to why it took so long. Nothing unusual about my application (no name changes). I reported one traffic ticket, included a copy of the court disposition ($50 fine for running a red light).

The officer was actually quite nice compared to the rude and brusque  staff there. The interview was done in under 15 minutes. I gave a copy of the waiver from the Selective Services Administration, even though she didn't insist on it. I wanted everything on my file to be complete in case my case was audited by some other officer and found to be "lacking information", since it looks like so many foul ups happen because of inept officers. The interview test was 10 questions from the list posted on the USCIS web site. I got all 10 right. The officer gave me the usual "congratulations .. you are approved for citizenship". Nothing about name checks. She said it would take "1 to 6 months" for the oath letter.

I did move 6 weeks after the interview to a new address in the same local N. VA area. Gave in all the address changes (Ar-11, went down to the
Arlington office and personally gave them the new address at the service counter). I have tried to close all the usual gaps which delay processing.
But then again maybe I am thinking too logically that this would actually speed up my case !!!
