Procedures for O*NET Job Zone Assignment - The Job Zone classification provides O*NET users a guide to the vocational preparation levels (e.g., education, training, and work experience) of O*NET-SOC occupations. For more information on this please visit this link.

O*NET Data Collection Procedures - The O*NET program approximately has 860 occupations. Funding permits for 100 to be updated every year. With respect to the last update, the 100 are selected based on new and emerging occupations, and on whether a job occupation is in demand.

Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) - Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) is not used much but it is a part of the PERM regulations meantime and is at least relevant. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has planned a change to the variable for education and experience. For more information on BLS’s proposed modification to education and training please click here.
