USCIS Invites to Join a Panel Discussion on "Immigration and Entrepreneurship"

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the government agency responsible for administering immigration benefits, invites you to join a panel discussion about issues at the nexus of immigration law, entrepreneurship, and innovation on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. (Central). This engagement will take place in the Avaya Auditorium, A.C.E.S. Building at the University of Texas at Austin.

USCIS will discuss ongoing activities to streamline existing immigration pathways through its Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIR) initiative.  USCIS is also interested in hearing from students and the local entrepreneurial community about their experiences with the current immigration process, as well as ideas to enhance current policies and programs for innovation-driven entrepreneurs. The panel will include:

  • Liz Elkiss, Counselor to the Director, USCIS
  • Paul Ford, Vice President of Community Development, Softlayer, USCIS EIR
  • Andrew Thorley, Assistant Director – Faculty & Scholar Issues, International Student & Scholar Services, UT
  • Dr. Elsie Echeverri-Carroll, Director, Economic Development Program, IC2 Institute, UT**
  • Student Entrepreneur, TBD
