My EAD renewal (at VSC) had been pending for more than 110 days, so I decided to go to the CIS office in Bloomington, MN to get an interim EAD.On Jan 22, 04 the temperature was -10F with the windchill of -30F. I arrived at the CIS office at 7.25 AM. The office was already open. Inside, there were already 50 or so people in the line. The security officer gave me a ticket. After waiting in the line for an hour, I finally reached the security gate and went to the waiting room. It was 8.40 AM. Here my ticket was exchanged with another ticket that had another number in it. Mine was for the 'E' category, which according to the board was for 'Adjudication'. It was written on the ticket that the approximate waiting time was 45 minutes but it wasn't until after more than 2.5 hours that they finally called my number.

I showed the officer the receipt notice from VSC. He then asked for my current EAD, looked at it, checked on the computer and returned the EAD. After that, he typed something on the computer and asked me to take a seat. After 10 minutes, he called my name and asked me to sign a form and put my fingerprint, and directed me to the room where they take the photograph. In less than 5 minutes he gave me the new EAD valid for 3 months.I left the building at 11.45 AM. Processing time: 20-25 minutes; Waiting time: more than 3.5 hours. The staff at CIS Bloomington, MN was very nice and courteous.
